JOB SUMMARY

 

The IT Test Environment Management (TEM) Analyst is responsible for the planning and preparation of lower IT environments to cover business and project requirements for project and testing needs.  Partners with the System Integration Engineer on the execution of releases across the enterprise for multiple components across various applications.  Works closely with Project Scrum Master, Application Development, QA Analyst, Business Analysts, Infrastructure and Operations teams to gather all requirements necessary to provide a stable integrated end-to-end QA environment that will be used to successfully test regular software deployments and ensure environment requirements are being met for the Stage environment supporting UAT testing.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Single point of contact for all environment issues and responsible for the quality of the environments that are managed.
  2. Responsible for the planning and preparation of lower environments (QA, SIT, Dev) to cover business and project requirements for project testing needs (integration, functional, end to end and L&P).
  3. Assist in the planning and development of deployment schedules to ensure timely and successful implementation and minimize risk to the organization.
  4. Manage all non-production environments, ensuring environments have proper code deployed, systems are properly integrated and use of the environment is coordinated across all project teams.
  5. Partner with the System Integration Engineer to establish and maintain processes for documenting environments and release management functions.
  6. Communicate project deployment details to both the business and technical teams from beginning to end of all projects.
  7. Provide support and escalation point for any environment issues from development, QA and project teams.
  8. Create and maintain an environment usage and scheduling calendar.
  9. Evaluate upcoming projects in terms of their impact on existing environments and ensure environments can meet project requirements, providing risk management and issue/problem resolution as required.
  10. Liaise with testing/infrastructure teams.
  11. Provides consistent processes for data population into test environments.
  12. Enables data refreshes prior to the beginning of each test pass.
  13. Controls the acquisition/administration of project data.
  14. Handles data from storage and retrieval systems.
  15. Handles the planning, scheduling, and delivery of data into a test environment.
  16. Monitor the availability of the environment according to plan.
  17. Track releases, upgrades and changes to the development and test environments.
  18. Coordinate test environment configuration, deployment and test activities required to provide a stable test platform.
  19. Ensure monitoring of environments is conducted.
  20. Communicate hardware requirements to Infrastructure Management.
  21. Allocate project infrastructure based on the project requirements. Environment management may allow environment sharing where the technologies are similar and where there is sufficient capacity.
  22. Manage multiple assignments simultaneously, while working independently with other teams.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  2. Minimum two (2) years IT experience.
  3. Exposure in development technologies and infrastructure knowledge is an added advantage
  4. Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  5. Understanding of IT environments
  6. Work independently with direction from management.
  7. Take ownership of issues and drive tasks through to completion.
  8. Strong Troubleshooting and Debugging Skills.
  9.  Basic knowledge of Application Servers, Web Servers, DB Servers, MQ.
  10.  Build Tools Jenkins, Hudson familiarity.

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
