JOB SUMMARY

 

YRCW, a nationwide Less Than Truckload (LTL) company that serves the US, Canada and Mexico, needs an IT Manager to provide leadership and implementation of Cyber & Information Security operations and support. This role prioritizes the needs for and serves the customers of all major Operating Companies under the YRCW brand: HNRY, Holland, New Penn, Reddaway and YRC Freight.

The IT Manager provides operational leadership and direction to deliver optimized services and support for assigned functions, including one or more of the following:

  • Protect - Protect applications and network from unauthorized access, misuse or damage
  • Respond - Ensure immediate response to incidents to control impact
  • Educate & Prevent - Engage user base through awareness about security risks, and Architect - Establish a framework to evaluate and design secure architectures
  • importance of protecting company information
  • Detect - Rapidly detect anomalies, proactively prevent attacks. Monitor, block, simulate attacks, scans
  • Investigate - Trace root cause for security incidents

The Manager is accountable for leading teams that manage a portfolio of projects and services, including the implementation of new and ongoing maintenance of security software, hardware and services. The IT Manager is responsible for the overall growth and development of 10-20 IT professionals and enhancing departmental execution capability and talent pipeline.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Develop & Drive Strategy (20%)
  1. Maintain current understanding of emerging technologies aligned to business needs. 
  2. Partner with key stakeholders to develop the roadmap for areas of responsibility, identify and recommend new solutions to meet priority business needs.
  3. Identify long and short-range projects/plans to drive improvements in areas of assigned responsibility; partner with IT leadership to align on key strategies and priorities.

Deliver Reliable Solutions & Technology (20%)
  1. Drive lifecycle management of solutions from selection to implementation to currency upgrades and/or sunset/termination.
  2. Drive projects and goals/objectives ensuring quality and timely delivery within approved budget.
  3. Provide clear communication on approach, status, issues and risks on a regular basis to manage stakeholder expectations.
  4. Develop relationships with key vendors and create cost-efficient and support development of comprehensive contracts that protect the company.
  5. Provide stable, available and operationally effective services and solutions.

Operational Support & Service Management (30%)
  1. 24X7 operation of IT services, designed to serve and protect ~400 terminals and facility locations
  2. Provide resource alignment to deliver 24x7 production support, including on-call schedules and escalated support response
  3. Provide stable, available and operationally effective services and solutions
  4. Execute change implementation practices that reduce business risk and overall downtime
  5. Develop and drive improvements from operational and solution health metrics (service metrics including utilization, availability, costs, etc.)
  6. Seek customer feedback regularly to ensure services and support are efficient and effective; surface and identify repeat problems or service challenges. Craft and drive improvement plans to close gaps.

Financial & Performance Management (30%)
  1. Drive the growth, development and overall performance improvement of the department.
  2. Lead and grow a high-performance team by selecting high potential talent, training, coaching and providing developmental assignments. 
  3. Participate in annual financial budgeting/planning processes. 
  4. Manage actuals to budget and timely communication of budget exceptions and assist with development of plans to close gaps.
  5. Human resource management including interviewing, hiring new employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; career development.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, related field or equivalent technical experience.
  2. Five (5) to ten (10) years information and cyber security related experience; demonstrated leadership (team lead, project management, etc.).
  3. Demonstrates proficiency in the one or more areas of information/cyber security, including experience defining security standards/frameworks, implementing and ongoing administration
  4. ITIL Certification or experience with using it for IT Service Delivery, including Identity & Access Management and provisioning services
  5. Experience with Microsoft AD, Multi Factor Authentication (MFA), inTune, role based access, scripting/powershell exposure, or related identity management and security technologies, tools, processes 
  6. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to develop executive ready presentations and communicate complex information in precise, simple and accurate manner
  7. Experience managing teams of five (5) to ten (10) or more IT resources.
  8. Experience managing complex projects.
  9. Experience securing cloud solutions and managed services.
  10. IT vendor management experience.
  11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  12. Experience in Infrastructure Engineering (network, server) and Service Management a plus

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  1. Experience with one or more of the following Palo Alto, Palo Traps AV, Proofpoint, Wombat, , Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Web Application Firewall (WAF), RSA Netwitness and other key security technologies 
  2. Experience with SOX, PII, SOC, NIST, ISO and other compliance standards and frameworks
  3. Certification(s) in the information security areas such as the CISSP, CISM, CISA (or ability to obtain)
  4. Ability to travel up to 5%; occasional travel associated with support the cross-company needs and/or vendor relations 
  5. Security solution evaluation, selection and implementation for large scale, complex environments
  6. ITIL Certification or experience with using it for IT Service Delivery. 
  7. Experience moving to and/or securing cloud infrastructure or managed services
  8. Freight and Logistics industry experience.
  9. MBA or advanced degree in related field
