The EDI Developer role is responsible for the design and development of B2B solutions that enable systems integration utilizing IBM Sterling Integrator (SI). They will participate in the development of integration services strategy for B2B integration which includes internal, cloud and web services based technology. Responsibilities include day to day systems support and maintenance of the SI environment. They will play a key role in migrating legacy EDI applications to the new enterprise architecture and IBM Sterling Integrator platforms.



  1. Responsibilities include supporting and interfacing with both business and IT stakeholders as well as external vendors and customers.
  2. They will utilize the SI environment to develop maps and business processes to implement e-commerce solutions.
  3. Maintain a highly available and scalable SI environment.
  4. Perform and/or oversee system upgrades.
  5. Develop standardized processes and procedures for implementing solutions including mapping, business processes and onboarding new EDI trading partners.
  6. Collaborate with representatives from other IT areas to determine if solutions currently exist or whether new solutions are feasible.
  7. Provide training for team members as necessary.
  8. Conduct data gathering and analysis to understand business requirements.
  9. May provide technical direction for short and long-term planning sessions.
  10. Provide input from an IT perspective in to the EDI product roadmaps.
  11. Develop, write, and communicate business requirements and functional specifications for the implementation of business solutions.
  12. Develop user test cases and system integration testing and validates test results during testing.
  13. Approve test plans and monitor testing process to ensure business results adequately tested with minimal risk.
  14. Ensure test strategies involve appropriate integration and process components.
  15. Keep customers and business partners informed of progress on implementing new product features.
  16. Investigate problems and develops recommendations for resolution.
  17. Identify need for technical assistance to help in problem resolution.
  18. Keep customers and business partners informed of problems, issues, and resolutions.
  19. Analyze performance metrics to ensure customer satisfaction.
  20. Manage customers’ expectations.
  21. Ensure IT solutions meet customers’ needs.

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, other related field or equivalent work experience. 
  2. Ability to work collaboratively within a team / group setting.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  5. Good analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills to evaluate business problems and apply technical options to solve them.
  6. Good interpersonal skills.

  8. Knowledge of MS Office tools and Visio
  9. The ability to communicate technical terminology with teammates, internal customers, external customers and suppliers. 
  10. A willingness and desire to learn and apply relevant EDI technologies.


  1. One to three years of relevant technical or industry work experience.
  2. Experience in a number of technical products like; WebMethods, Gentran, Sterling Integrator and other tools used in EDI solutions.
  3. Basic understanding of the LTL transportation and logistics.
  4. Knowledge of ANSI EDI X12 standards, XML and other data interface formats deployed in an EDI solution.
  5. Some relevant technical and business work experience implementing solutions using third-party tools.
  6. Knowledge of LTL transportation business operations and systems requirements processes.



This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.




The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
