JOB SUMMARY

 

Responsible to support YRCW’s product, sales, leadership and marketing teams with insights gained from analyzing company data. Uses large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies.
  2. Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
  3. Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
  4. Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes.
  5. Develop company A/B testing framework and test model quality.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Grade point average 2.75 or better.
  2. Currently enrolled and pursuing undergraduate (at least second year student) or graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related field.
  3. Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development.
  4. Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
  5. Experience working with and creating data architectures.
  6. Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
  7. Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
  9. A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
  10. Experience manipulating data sets and building statistical models and is familiar with the following software/tools.
  11. Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.
  12. Experience querying databases and using statistical computer languages: R, Python, SQL, etc.
  13. Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
