CDL Training Academy (10.05.20 Mobile Acadmey Class)

YRC Freight is sponsoring individuals interested in obtaining a Class A CDL through our very own CDL Training Academy. Prospective Students for this program:

  • Will not currently possess a Class A CDL
  • Will be interested in becoming an Over-the-Road (solo or team driving) and/or City Driver (dependent upon location) for YRC Freight 
  • Will be available to attend classes 5 days per week (daytime hours) for 4 consecutive weeks 

After successful completion of the four-week course, you will take the state exam to obtain your Class A CDL with Hazmat, Tanker, and Doubles/Triples endorsements. From there, you can apply and be immediately considered for conditional employment with YRC Freight!


If you have the commitment to obtain your Class A CDL and become a top notch driver, our academy will help you meet that goal by providing you the best training with the safest equipment available!


The Top benefits to attending our Academy include:

  • Fully paid tuition, book and equipment costs (some conditions apply)
  • Candidate will be responsible for cost of permit, license, endorsements and DOT medical card
  • Great student to instructor ratio to allow for optimal learning opportunities

  • Instructor assistance in preparing and obtaining endorsements


All student opportunities are intended for individuals who have not previously attended and/or graduated from a truck driving school.


Our Academy in Hammond, IN directly supports our Chicago Heights Terminal, where you can potentially be offered conditional employment after graduation.  


In order to be a student at the YRC Freight CDL Training Academy, you must:

  1. Be age 21 or over.
  2. Have a current and valid driver’s license.
  3. Have a record of safe and competent driving as demonstrated on a state Motor Vehicle Record.
  4. Must be willing and able to obtain a Class A Permit (prior to starting class).
  5. Be willing and able to obtain a Certified DOT Medical Card (prior to starting class).
  6. Meet all requirements to obtain a Hazmat endorsement.
  7. Meet all DOT requirements.
  8. Be willing and able to attend class 40 hours per week for 4 weeks and maintain an acceptable attendance record.
  9. Have a reliable form of transportation.
