Responsible for matching freight to third party carriers and their available equipment. Responsibilities include prospecting of leads, web research, networking and cold calling to build pipeline and strong account management to retain and grow carrier accounts.  Position requires strong relationship building skills, negotiating power and ability to multi-task.



  1. Book available freight in a cost effective manner.  Source and negotiate with carrier base to move available loads (Truckload, Flatbed, Intermodal).
  2. Schedule pick-up and delivery appointment times.
  3. Build carrier relationships via phone, posting services (DAT, Internet Truck stop, etc.) and any other methods needed.
  4. Build relationships with customer base.  Maintain communications with customers regarding changes in pick-up, delivery schedules, and potential service failures.
  5. Communicate customer problems, leads, and inquiries to the Account Executives.
  6. Quote customers on new lanes when requested.
  7. Communicate with regional capacity manager in the event of any issues.
  8. Recommend improvements and implement once approved.
  9. Properly document orders in the computer.
  10. When possible, pre-plan the use of carriers and equipment for efficiency.
  11. Dispatch drivers.
  12. Track/trace shipments when requested or time permits.
  13. Aid in P.O.D. retrieval.
  14. Understand and support the goals, policies, and procedures. Maintain confidentiality of company information. 


  1. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  2. Exceptional customer service attitude and skills.
  3. Ability to learn TMS software.
  4. Basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
  5. Demonstrated organizational and scheduling skills.



  1. College degree in business or transportation field.
  2. Minimum two (2) years carrier sales experience.
  3. Experience working in a deadline driven environment.




This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.




The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
