Business Development Representative-Truckload

The Business Development Representative - Truckload is responsible for cultivating truckload business through prospecting, qualifying and pricing truckload opportunities while serving as an engagement point for YRCF Sales in order to adequately position and sell truckload services.



  1. Actively pursue and qualify valued truckload business opportunities and implement successful selling strategies/techniques.
  2. Proactively collaborate with YRCF Sales personnel in assigned markets or zones to identify, establish and cultivate new truckload business.
  3. Support sales teams on all truckload initiatives, critical directives and key client relationships, and monitor the performance of each aspect respectively to ensure revenue attainment.
  4. Regularly exercise independent judgment and discretion in regard to pricing and financially impactful decisions. Negotiate contracts, pricing programs and RFP’s with new and existing truckload accounts to maximize margin and revenue levels.
  5. Utilize experience, knowledge and available resources to orchestrate solutions that increase truckload market share and profitability.
  6. Drive truckload market penetration through sales leads, shipper and consignee prospecting, customer referrals and outbound cold calling.
  7. Categorize transactional versus managed path accounts through defined qualification processes. Managing transactional business from launch to finish and transitioning managed path business to the LSR/LSM teams for supplementary nurturing.

  1. Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Economics and related fields or equivalent work experience.
  2. Effective verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  3. Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills.
  4. Professional, likable, and outgoing personality.
  5. High energy attitude and desire to work hard while having fun.
  6. Intermediate competency in Microsoft Excel.
  7. Some travel required – up to 25%.


  1. Previous Account Management/Sales experience in the transportation, 3PL, or supply chain industry.
  2. Two (2) years sales experience.
  3. Advanced competency in Microsoft Excel.



This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.




The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs. of supplies and materials is required.
