Business Development Representative-Inside Sales

Responsible for cultivating pipeline opportunities and growing territory market share through a collaborative partnership with local and corporate Account Executives. This position develops, establishes and maintains customer relationships in order to meet or exceed revenue, bill count and profit goals.



  1. Actively pursue and qualify valued business opportunities and implement successful selling strategies/techniques.
  2. Proactively collaborate with Account Executives in assigned markets or zones to identify, establish and cultivate new business relationships.
  3. Support local counterparts on all initiatives, critical directives and key client relationships, and monitor the performance of each aspect respectively to ensure maximum revenue attainment.
  4. Regularly exercise independent judgment and discretion in regards to pricing and financially impactful decisions.
  5. Collaborate with Account Executives to negotiate contracts, pricing programs, AB files and RFP’s with new and existing accounts in order to maximize margin and revenue levels.
  6. Utilize experience, knowledge and available resources to orchestrate solutions that increase YRCW’s market share and profitability.
  7. Drive territory penetration through CRM sales leads, driver leads, shipper and consignee prospecting, customer referrals, Account Executive directives and outbound cold calling.

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and two years sales or logistics work experience.
  2. Effective verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  3. Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills.
  4. Professional, likable, and outgoing personality.
  5. High energy attitude and desire to work hard while having fun.
  6. Intermediate competency in Microsoft Excel.
  7. Some travel required – up to 25%.


  1. Previous Account Management/Sales experience in the transportation, 3PL, or supply chain industry.
  2. Two (2) years sales experience.
  3. Advanced competency in Microsoft Excel.



This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.




The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
