JOB SUMMARY

 

The Business Development Representative will focus on pursuing new customers by contacting new accounts and further engaging existing accounts with little business. The Business Development Representative will participate in the development of strategies to onboard, grow revenue and shipment count.  The Business Development Representative will partner with Account Executives to transition accounts for ongoing relationship.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Coordinate with territory account owner on target accounts that meet high fit, high need criteria.
  2. Establish customer contacts by cold calling and face-to-face meetings.
  3. Focus on daily customer contact. Each day schedule thirty face-to-face meetings.
  4. Identify and analyze customer needs and recommend solutions.
  5. Establish and position YRC service advantages in new accounts focusing on shipment and revenue growth.
  6. Partner with Account Executives to ensure a seamless handoff for customers who are interested in doing business with YRC.
  7. Utilize internal resources to assist and ensure successful transition of new business in the YRC system.
  8. Maintain a qualified pipeline of customers to help sales and forecasted sales.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Marketing or Sales focus.
  2. Ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.
  3. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Proficient selling skills.
  5. Proven ability to work in a fast pace environment.
  6. Ability to learn and adapt in a competitive industry that will keep YRC positioned as a primary service provider.
  7. Some travel may be required.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  1. Up to two (2) years of professional experience.
  2. The ideal candidate is highly entrepreneurial, self-driven with a strong desire to grow and build business.
  3. Self-motivated with the ability to perform in an autonomous environment.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Required to travel between terminal sites and customer locations.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
