JOB SUMMARY

 

Responsible for all Accounting operations, including developing and maintaining effective control, accounting, and reporting policies and practices; maintenance of the general ledger and related accounting policies for payables, receivables, and payrolls; analyzing and reporting financial results.  Serve as a business partner to other operational leaders to drive strategic business decisions.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for the month-end close process and timely reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
  2. Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting policies to ensure accounting records are prepared and maintained in accordance with requirements, along with the organization’s accounting policies and chart of accounts.
  3. Timely preparation of internal financial reports and analyses which accurately reflect the Company’s operating results and financial position. Preparation of monthly close documents, including analysis of quarterly accounting reserves; and monthly/quarterly business review presentations.
  4. Utilize technical skills to research and resolve complex accounting issues when required.
  5. Evaluate new reporting requirements and recognize the existence of internal control, accounting and reporting opportunities; use expertise, creativity and corporate resources to effect and manage change and identify solutions.
  6. Maintain controls on expenditures; provide regular reporting and variance analysis to management.
  7. Prepare Company ABL reporting in conjunction with YRCW Treasury.
  8. Support annual budget and monthly outlook processes.
  9. Manage the accounting and finance internal control environment and work with YRCW Internal Audit to satisfy all regulatory requirements.
  10. Monitor and report on weekly finance scorecard metrics.
  11. Act as the Accounting subject matter expert in support of critical financial systems, including the implementation for systems to support the accounting and other key financial processes.
  12. Support sales and operational initiatives through collaboration and development of people, systems and processes. Advise on key obstacles and concerns.
  13. Manage assigned staff to ensure efficient, effective department operation; develop staff to build department strength and expertise.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or related field.
  2. Detailed knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices.
  3. Five (5) years previous accounting and finance experience in a corporate or public setting.
  4. Two (2) years supervisory experience.
  5. Must have an entrepreneurial mindset and be a proactive self-starter.
  6. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with proven attention to detail.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments to affect change.
  8. Proven proficiency with IT applications: Excel, Oracle. Proven utilizer of technology tools to drive efficiency.
  9. Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  10. Proven success in a fast paced, collaborative environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Master’s Degree (MBA or MAcc).
  2. CPA license (active).
  3. Public accounting experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
