JOB SUMMARY

 

The Technology Supervisor will serve as the team lead and lead technical contributor in providing support and development of capabilities of the Server Services team. In addition to day to day support and maintenance work within the team’s incident and request activities, the Technology Supervisor will plan, direct, manage and oversee team activities and operations as well as help lead the technical team’s activities around system design, architecture and implementation of systems and infrastructure.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, direct, manage and oversee team activities and operations
  • Provide leadership and training for the Server Services team
  • Coaches employees on performance and contributes to mid-year and annual performance evaluations
  • Install, configure, test and maintain server infrastructure systems, application software and system management tools
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Monitor and test server architectures, identify possible solutions, and work with “developers” to implement those fixes
  • Responsible for maintaining and enhancing accurate documentation steps for installation, maintenance and configuration activities.  Maintains platform related inventory and other hardware/software/license tracing documentation.
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
  • Provide 3rd level support
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
  • 5+ years of proven professional experience demonstrating the ability to lead and develop a team of technical engineers
  • 8+ years of proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Citrix based environments
  • 8+ years of proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting VMware environments.
  • Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows based environments.
  • Thorough understanding of virtualization and containerization concepts (e.g., App Volumes, App Layers, Docker, etc.)
  • Professional experience showing ability to research, develop plans and procedures, coordinate, schedule projects and prioritize work; demonstrating ability to respond to multiple projects within acceptable time frames, and ability to prepare and maintain accurate reports and records;
  • Professional experience demonstrating the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees and contractors, to prepare reports and to communicate ideas effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to proactively self-initiate and continually expand professional development of all necessary skillsets, as well as keep abreast of related emerging technologies that would be used from a wide variety of sources (i.e., self-paced online training, training materials, and some training courses as available)

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Solid Cloud experience
  • Solid scripting skills (e.g., Powershell scripts, Perl, Python)
  • Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
  • VCP 5 or newer
  • CCP 7
  • MCSE

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Continually speaking and hearing, giving and receiving directions. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 50 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
