JOB SUMMARY


 

Supervisory position responsible for delivering IT related solutions and services to the YRCW organization. Acts as an advocate for the customer ensuring solutions and services consistently meet expectations and organizational goals. Coordinates daily activities of support personnel to ensure team responsibilities are properly executed and performed in compliance with established standards, procedures, and work processes. Works with manager to provide appropriate feedback, coaching, follow-up, and direction for employees to exceed standards of performance. Responsible for meeting budgetary goals as defined by the manager. Provides input to policy level direction regarding standards and budget constraints.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Accountable for ensuring availability, reliability, integrity, quality, and responsiveness of communications systems and services.
  2. Maintains integrity of communications environment ensuring support activities are consistent with established policies.
  3. Maintains production communications equipment environment ensuring business operations are operating at or above established service levels.
  4. Maintains communications services within the business environment to ensure proper operation and effective execution of business operations.
  5. Reviews daily reports for recurring problems and takes lead role in addressing customer-impacting events. Coordinates the efforts of personnel to ensure effective resolution of business issues and timely implementation of preventative actions.
  6. Provides rotational 24 x 7 on-call support

  1. Maintains high-level understanding of business drivers and processes of partners and customers. Works effectively with all organizational levels while proactively strengthening relationships with customers. Understands and relates business needs in appropriate terms for team members and internal support groups.
  2. Provides input to manager in establishing current and long-range strategies, assigning priorities, preparing budgets, and setting objectives in support of business initiatives.
  3. Works proactively with support groups and customers to identify needs and develop appropriate solutions and services.
  4. Provides support in the selection, procurement, usage, and maintenance of software programs and hardware.
  5. Responsible for meeting budget goals and objectives.
  6. Demonstrates effective project management skills for projects varying in size and complexity. Develops project plans specifying goals, staffing, scheduling, risks, and contingency plans. Ensures timely communication to project stakeholders.
  7. Participates in enterprise resource management. Works with managers to ensure project efforts are adequately staffed and resources effectively utilized.
  8. Stays abreast of technology trends and industry best practices. Proactively identifies opportunities to leverage technology, improve processes, and enhance vendor relationships to reduce operating costs and increase customer satisfaction.
  9. Participates in the development of standards, tools, methodologies, processes, and procedures. Provides guidance to team members regarding standards, methodologies, processes, and procedures.
  10. Provides day-to-day guidance to team members in support of organizational mission, goals, and strategies.
  11. Maintains effective communications to share information across the group, department, and organization.
  12. Meets with subordinates to discuss progress of work, resolve problems, and ensure standards for quality and quantity of work are met. Prepares activity and progress reports for team member activities. 
  13. Adjusts staff work schedule as necessary to ensure efficient team operation based on workload.
  14. Maintain accurate employee records reflecting all areas of employee performance.
  15. Works with Manager to complete employee performance reviews on a timely basis, while accurately reflecting all aspects of employee performance.
  16. Works with Manager in respect to employment, promotions, transfers, evaluations, salary adjustments, and disciplinary actions.
  17. Works with Manager to complete employee development plans to improve core competencies in alignment with organizational objectives. Provides appropriate feedback, coaching, follow-up, and direction for employees to exceed standards of performance.
  18. Demonstrates the core competencies relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  19. May perform other job-related duties as assigned

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Minimum five (5) years of relevant in depth technical knowledge in areas related to platform specific systems and/or network operations.
  3. Experience supervising at networking teams of three (3) or more FTE.
  4. Experience with data and voice networks.
  5. Experience managing support contracts.
  6. Experience with cloud services.
  7. Ability to work effectively with personnel on all levels.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree
  2. Seven (7) years of experience in data network or telecommunication’s role.
  3. Experience in supporting enterprise communications infrastructure.
  4. Experience with Software Defined Networks (SDDC & SDWAN).
  5. Experience negotiating contracts.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS


 

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs. of supplies and materials is required.
