JOB SUMMARY

 

Lead technical position utilizing in-depth knowledge of Java and Spring, and/or core web technologies (JavaScript, HTML and CSS3) to develop, integrate and implement business solutions.  Participate in an Agile-based team environment to develop web and mobile solutions which bring competitive advantage to YRC Freight in the LTL Transportation market.  As a lead technical position, the Sr. Java/Web Developer will be a key voice in setting direction and providing guidance on how to best leverage technology to achieve business outcomes.  Involved in all aspects of the development lifecycle, from conception to completion. This includes project management, code development, user interaction, application testing and deployment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Perform complex programming assignments requiring an expert understanding of established programming standards, methods and best practices.
  2. Facilitate, acquire and interpret business requirements, create functional specifications and determine the most efficient/appropriate technologies.
  3. Perform analysis of business models, logical specifications and/or customer requirements to design and build business solutions utilizing multiple technologies.
  4. Contribute to, review and approve technical designs of software solutions.
  5. Provide technical and best practice consulting to management, business partners and technical associates.
  6. Guide and collaborate with engineers and architects in continuous improvement initiatives.
  7. Conduct research into new technologies, development practices and frameworks.
  8. Mentor, coach and train application developers.
  9. Guide developers in in implementing solutions, resolving problems and performing code reviews.
  10. Contribute to and follows development best practices such as version control, unit testing, continuous integration, performance and security testing, and appropriate documentation.
  11. Ensure quality and maintain performance of deployed solutions.
  12. Work with stakeholders following the Agile Scrum software development process.
  13. Provide technical support and participate in on-call rotation to resolve critical application issues.
  14. Act as a subject matter expert in the discovery and investigation of critical production issues.
  15. Assist with other projects as needed to contribute to efficiency and effectiveness of the organization

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  2. Six (6) years related experience.
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Strong technical aptitude, fast learner and effective problem solver.
  5. Self-motivated, goal oriented, quality driven and capable of working both independently and in a team environment.
  6. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  7. Great team player with positive attitude.
  8. Strong foundation in object oriented programming and associated design concepts.
  9. Must meet the requirements associated with one or both of the following areas of specialization:
    • Front-end Developer:
      • Expert experience with JavaScript
      • Expert experience with AngularJS 1.x
      • Expert experience with HTML and CSS
      • Experience with Mocha and/or Jasmine preferred
      • Experience with Cordova and Ionic preferred
      • Experience with NodeJS and ExpressJS preferred
    • Back-end Developer:
      • Expert experience with Java and Spring
      • Strong understanding of RESTful design
      • Advanced experience with SQL Queries and SQL Server Stored Procedures
      • Experience with NodeJS and ExpressJS preferred
      • Experience with Junit preferred

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
