Senior Financial Analyst - Cost

JOB SUMMARY

 

We are looking for senior-level Costing Analyst to help administer our activity-based cost model and perform meaningful analysis of the results.  The position requires excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of different financial and analytical techniques and the capability to plan own work and respect deadlines.  We are looking for a real self - starter who can take and run with analyses and costing enhancement projects. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Execute monthly processing of the cost model.
  2. Ensure accurate, reliable and timely availability of costing data for use by other parts of the organization (Pricing, Sales, Operations, Finance).
  3. Work closely with Pricing, Sales, Operations, and Finance to analyze and improve customer profitability and thus overall financial results for the company.
  4. Work closely with Pricing, Sales, Operations, Finance and Information Technology to continually refine and enhance the costing system.
  5. Propose improvements to systems, methods of work and analysis methods and to ensure that they are continuously adapted to changing business requirements.
  6. Provide input as appropriate considering alternative scenarios and costing methodologies.
  7. Use vendor software to extract and analyze data from the costing database.
  8. Prepare and distribute standardized reports summarizing results and trends.
  9. Research/resolve costing inquiries from Pricing, the Field and other internal employees.
  10. Assist end-users with use of the costing software.
  11. Perform ad-hoc analysis of operating results and trends at an overall company level
  12. Assist in special studies and analysis as necessary in order to assist management with financial related decisions.
  13. May train less experienced analysts.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

  1. Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting or similar business area.
  2. 5+ years experience in an analytical role.
  3. Proficient in Microsoft office products with an ability to manipulate large data files in Excel, MS Access  or similar products
  4. Strong Analytical and problem solving skills
  5. Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities
  6. Strong ability to coordinate others when necessary to find an appropriate solution
  7. Extensive experience handling conflict and differences of opinion
  8. Excellent communication and presentation skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  1. Master’s Degree
  2. Cost Accounting experience
  3. Experience in LTL Pricing and general understanding of the LTL transportation industry
  4. Project Management experience
  5. Experience with ERP systems and queries

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
