JOB SUMMARY

 

The RPG AS400 Programmer Analyst II is responsible for specific applications, databases and/or technology platforms within the information technology function for the company.  This position develops a functional knowledge in order to implement, support and expand the use of a particular solution within the company.  The day-to-day effort of the RPG AS400 Programmer Analyst II personifies an IT culture that emphasizes quality, responsiveness, customer service, productivity, high standards and results.  This position is responsible for partnering with business owners and employees throughout the company to deliver superior results.  The position reports to an Information Technology Manager and maintains open and unbiased communication to ensure the objectives, scope and timeline of projects are maintained and issues surfaced as appropriate.

 

The position requires attention to detail and accuracy, high energy, forward thinking and the ability to adapt to changing business requirements while maintaining consistent and reliable IT solutions and services.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Work with Information Technology Manager to establish challenging goals, plans and objectives that support the company’s vision.
  2. Analyze complex business problems and assess how automated solutions can be implemented to solve them.
  3. Gather data and analyze business and user needs in consultation with business owners and end-users.
  4. Help the organization understand the capabilities of current IT resources and find ways to improve productivity and overall business performance.
  5. Develop, test, debug and document software and/or configurations, as appropriate.
  6. Perform IT activities to ensure positive results are achieved in the areas of customer service, on-time delivery and business case attainment.
  7. Maintain compliance to all IT policies and procedures.
  8. Evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
  9. Design and implement lean concepts and principles within the IT function and fully support lean initiatives throughout the company.
  10. Support a positive work environment based mutual respect, honesty, team work and continuous improvement.
  11. Maintain 24x7 availability to address critical business and/or IT issues.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

  1. Two (2) year associates degree or four (4) year undergraduate degree in computer science, data networks, software development or a similar quantitative disciple.
  2. At least three (3) years' experience gathering business requirements, creating application design documents and development on the iSeries in the area of AS/400 RPG, ILE, SQL, and CL.
  3. A proven track record of success within AS/400 RPG/CL environment for critical projects..
  4. Experience working with IT leaders, business owners and employees to successfully deliver, maintain and support solutions.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
