JOB SUMMARY

 

Leads and participates in projects that are focused on analyzing, designing, developing, and controlling solutions that add value to the Operations of YRCW.  Selects appropriate techniques to problem solving, process technical solution design, data analysis, and quality control.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Works with internal and external business and IT partners in defining business requirements for technical solutions, testing software releases, identifying bugs, and retesting software solutions.
  2. Leads and executes process improvement initiatives.
  3. Develops and maintains documentation for assigned projects.
  4. Provides operational input to and support for projects in alignment with corporate and department strategy.
  5. Develops and facilitates solution design in collaboration with stakeholders to accomplish objectives supporting process, data analysis, technology, and quality control.
  6. Leads groups of teams to implement new and updated technologies across the YRCW Operation.
  7. Ensures successful completion of assignments within budgeted time and cost constraints.
  8. Participates in defining objective approaches to problem solving and project management (planning, scheduling, and tracking work).
  9. Provides business support and expertise for designed solutions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor’s degree with engineering, logistics, or technology focus preferred.
  2. Minimum of three (3) years of implementing technical solutions in a business environment.
  3. Minimum of five (5) years proven analytical and problem-solving skills with experience presenting recommendations to management.
  4. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in process design and data analysis.
  5. Understanding of and experience delivering effective change management.
  6. Knowledge of and experience working with project management principles such as Lean/Six Sigma and Agile Development methodologies.
  7. Practical experience in fact-based analysis, root cause identification, and problem solving.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in technology design and product development as a business liaison or technical lead.
  2. Minimum of three years of experience in Transportation & Logistics with LTL Operations experience preferred.
  3. Data mining using common tools such as Power BI, Business Objects, and/or SQL.
  4. Experience working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) used for planning and execution in a logistics operations environment.
  5. Experience writing technical documentation used for operations training and process control.

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

This job operates in a professional office environment indoors as well as at Terminals across US, Mexico, and Canada. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.  Requires up to 25% travel with flexibility of shifts to cover operational needs. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs. of supplies and materials is required.
