JOB SUMMARY

 

Under limited supervision, complete medium to high complexity projects.  Independently support database environments development and maintenance efforts.  Work with IT internal and external teams to define and implement database solutions in support of the new and existing systems. Responsible for implementation of physical database objects, databases administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning and improvements, and monitoring.  Participate in database physical designs, environments set up, data access, and provide requirements assessment.  Participate in definition and implementation of the database administration standards.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Create and maintain all databases required for development, testing, education and production usage.
  2. Perform ongoing databases tuning.
  3. Install new versions of the RDBMS and its tools and any other tools that access databases.
  4. Plan and implement databases backups and recovery.
  5. Control migrations of programs, database changes, and reference data changes through the development life cycle.
  6. Implement and enforces appropriate security for all databases.
  7. Perform databases re-organizations, as required, to assist with performance and ensure maximum uptime of the database.
  8. Follow and participate in development of the DBA standards to support proper integrity, security, and performance of the databases.
  9. Evaluate and apply new database releases and its tools.
  10. Ensure any new product usage or releases takes place with minimal impact.
  11. Provide technical support to application development teams.
  12. Perform administration of all database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures.
  13. Assist with impact analysis of any changes made to the database objects.
  14. Troubleshoot problems associated with databases.
  15. Create new database users as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

SQL Server

  1. Bachelor’s degree specializing in computer science or equivalent work experience required.
  2. Three (3) or more years’ work experience as SQL Server DBA.
  3. Good knowledge of the SQL Server physical database design, backup and recovery, and security management.
  4. Experience and knowledge in code migrations, database changes, enforcement of the data integrity, and performance tuning.
  5. Good oral and written communication skills.
  6. Strong analytical, initiative, and organization skills.
  7. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

 

Oracle

  1. Bachelor’s degree specializing in computer science or equivalent work experience required.
  2. Three (3) or more years’ work experience as Oracle DBA.
  3. Good knowledge of the Oracle physical database design, backup and recovery, and security management.
  4. Experience and knowledge in code migrations, database changes, enforcement of the data integrity, and performance tuning.
  5. Good oral and written communication skills.
  6. Strong analytical, initiative, and organization skills.
  7. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
