JOB SUMMARY

 

Under the guidance of management and senior staff, performs the associated tasks and responsibilities of a Communications Analyst 2 in the management of telecommunication equipment, systems, and services used by the company. Uses his/her general knowledge of the organization and understanding of day-to-day operations to further develop competencies to perform analysis, make recommendations, implement and/or support telecommunications in the field and/or headquarter locations. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Demonstrates an understanding of communications systems and supports the functionality, capacity, reliability, availability, and recoverability of systems, equipment, and service.
  2. Participates in and assists other team members in performing analysis of communication systems, equipment, and/or services.
  3. Develops skills to make job related recommendations with cost/benefit analysis.
  4. Observes and assists in the planning, ordering, and implementation of communication systems and services.
  5. Utilizes knowledge to monitor, troubeshoot, and resolve requests, problems and outages in a timely and effective manner with assistance from vendors and in-house resources.
  6. Acts as a liaison between vendors, technical support groups and operations personnel to ensure proper communication and support is planned and provided.
  7. Assists in the research and evaluation of communication products, services and technology.
  8. Successfully manages small projects with supervision by following the Project Management methodology.
  9. Provides rotational 24 x 7 on-call support with minimal assistance from senior team members.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Minimum five (5) years of relevant in-depth technical knowledge in areas related to platform specific systems and/or voice network operations.
  3. Ability to provide move, add, and change services.
  4. Experience with Avaya, ShoreTel, Cisco or Mitel voice systems.
  5. Experience with Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
  6. Ability to work effectively with personnel on all levels.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree.
  2. Five (5) years of experience in telecommunication’s role.
  3. Experience in supporting a large telecommunications infrastructure.
  4. Experience with Session Border Controllers.
  5. Experience with Session Initiation Protocol (SIP).

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
